How to properly treat and train your property

Yes, I know, the title threw you, did it not? Why would I want to deliberately hurt my most priced possession? There is a good reason. I am writing this article to expand on a point my slave recently made on her journal about something the BDSM community calls subspace. Many treat subspace as something mysterious and it took me a long time to understand what it possibly could refer to myself. I am now convinced that it is a physiological state you can put your slave’s body in, if you learn to carefully stimulate her.

Pain

Pain itself is a very complex topic. It has been researched for decades and while we understand fully how pain receptors and chemicals involved work, we still do not quite understand how pain interacts with our body. To get a good understanding on the basics of Pain I would suggest you go and read the article published by the National Institute Of Neurological Disorders And Stroke.
The most basic distinction you can possible make are two kinds of pain:

  • chronic pain
  • acute pain

We are not interested in chronic pain, as we will go with the medical definition of it. What are you interested in is the effects of acute pain and most of the time that will be due to a trauma inflicted on your slave’s body or muscle pain due to prolonged use or binding.

Smart Mother Nature, Smart…

Evolution has come up with various ways to deal with different types of pain. However there is one group of biochemicals we are most interested in, they are called endorphines. Plural, because there is more than one type of endorphins, there are three to be exact:

  • α-endorphins (alpha)
  • β-endorphins (beta)
  • γ-endorphins (gamma)

We will focus on only one type of endorphin, which is the β-endorphins because they are believed to be the most potent of them all and the symptoms exhibited by a slave in subspace are very similar to what β-endorphins are supposed to do for your body.

Where Do I Buy Those

β-endorphins is produced by your pituitary gland also called the hypophysis. To be precise, so that you may impress your slave, the Adenohypophysis or Anterior pituitary is responsible for actually conjuring up this chemical cocktail.
Unfortunately it is not as easy as walking up to the Adenohypophysis and ordering a tall glass of β-endorphins, in order to get anything from that fellow you have to talk to its barkeeper boss, which happens to be the hypothalamus.

How…How…

To convince your hypothalamus that you are old enough to have a β-endorphins cocktail you will need to endure pain. Acute pain is a sure trigger to get the hypothalamus’ attention.
β-endorphins are very potent, research has shown that it produces a greater sense of exhilaration, or “high“, than all of the other endorphin types. Also often said to have an opiate effect on the body, β-endorphins is generally believed to provide substantial natural pain relief.
What strikes me most is the “opiate effect” because it reflects a behaviour I have often witnessed with my slave. She describes it as “floating” whereas to me it comes across as the kind of behaviour I would expect from someone under the influence of morphine or any other opiate. Her speech especially reflects that and also the fact that she is very amenable to suggestions while in that state.

Conclusion

I do not wish to draw conclusions on how we can convince the body to actually create and distribute β-endorphins during play, but I know that these bio-chemicals are able to create an artificial state of well-being after a very stressful experience for you slave’s body. Even though β-endorphins do not show the same additive effect opiates have, I would not advise you to always aim for putting your slave into subspace. As much as it seems to be a blissful experience, the total loss of control can also be perceived a frightening. Due to the effects of above mentioned, natural chemicals, your slave will be very helpful while in subspace, ensure that you are the protection she needs as she experiences her journey through that space.
