Recently I have had the pleasure of reading an article by one of my heroes. His name is Jakob Nielsen and the recently published article deals with participation inequality on most popular web-sites. According to theĀ  article published by Nielsen:

  • 90% of users are lurkers (i.e., read or observe, but don’t contribute).
  • 9% of users contribute from time to time, but other priorities dominate their time.
  • 1% of users participate a lot and account for most contributions: it can seem as if they don’t have lives because they often post just minutes after whatever event they’re commenting on occurs.

Thinking about this I have come to the conclusion that this general observation is probably true for my slaves and my web-log as well. I want you to participate though, so how can I make this wish come true?

Step One…

As a first step of my invitation for more participation comments are now enabled by default. No longer do you have to register and login before you can actually leave a comment. While this will invite a flood of spam and will surely force me to moderate half of my time, I think it is important to make participation as easy as possible for all of you. So please participate, tell me what you think, leave your feedback and I will try to incorporate it into my development of this web-log.

Step Two…

A picture is worth more than a thousand words. Lately I have been thinking about publishing a BDSM themed comic strip. Very much like the strips you can see when you look at Dilbert on the Internet or Garfield in a newspaper. I went and posted my idea on Guru and DeviantArt and actually did get more repsonses than I had expected to.
At the moment I am in the process of speaking with those artists who interest me the most and I think that process is slowly coming to an end. The comic itself is meant to have a humorous twist on common topics in a Master and slave relationship. Many of the basic ideas I am dealing here on my blog with and many of the points my slave is making on hers can be illustrated. I hope that these illustrations cannot only serve was a bridge between our lifestyle and the “vanilla world” but also get people to understand that we are not taking ourselves too seriously.

I have gotten a substantial amount of interest in this idea and I am very proud to see that so many artist have an open mind to this topic. For me one of the message I got stands out though. The artists name is Don Lomax and he has been in the industry for quite some time. Recently we have been writing emails back and forth to further develop the idea and I must say as things start to shape up I am becomming more and more excited about it. This could be something that can be driven by a community, your ideas are precious, so please make sure you comment on what you would want to see in a comic, decidated to Master/slave relationships and the lifestyle we love to live.

Ulterior motive…

It is very seldom for me not to have an ulterior motive when I do something. Investing into a comic strip which can be shown regularily on this web-log is also an investment into being unique. I want this comic strip to be interesting and something people can walk away from with a little grin on their face. I want it to make them feel good and I want them to want to come back, to see what is going to be the next installment. Will this help me to raise the profile of this web-log, I hope it will. I also hope that people who come only to see the comic will start to read the articles posted on my web-log and the ones on my slaves’. I would hope that it draws them into our world of thinking and fosters understanding of what we do and who we choose to be.

I want to attract people by showing them something they might not fully undersand yet they can appreciate it. Humour, a little laughter is a perfect vehicle to cross a chasm and I think that is necessary here. I am not planning on a crude, pornographically driven illustration of just one aspect of BDSM. I want this to be something that deals with the lifestyle and the trials and tribulations off it.

I hope you will participate, your ideas are precious to me! So go on then, comment!
